Sensory Sunday at Science City

Located inside Kansas City’s historic Union Station, Science City is an award-winning, hands-on science center with over 300 interactive exhibits that spark curiosity in visitors of all ages. From space exploration and robotics to the Maker Studio and natural science investigations, there’s something for everyone to discover.

Sensory Friendly Sundays create a calmer, more welcoming environment for guests with sensory sensitivities and their families. These special mornings are held on select Sundays throughout the year and include:

• Reduced Noise and Lighting – Sound effects off, softer lighting, no flashing or strobe effects.
• Limited Attendance – Smaller crowds from 10:00–11:30 AM for a quieter visit before public hours.
• Sensory-Friendly Activities – Hands-on stations to explore at your own pace.
• Quiet Zones – Designated spaces to relax and recharge.
• Sensory Support Backpacks – Free to borrow, equipped with headphones, sunglasses, fidgets, and more.
• Planetarium Show Adjustments – Lowered volume, soft lighting, and flexible seating.

Families are welcome to stay and enjoy Science City until closing at 5:00 PM.
