Finding His Voice: Will Leads Through Advocacy

A Journey Begins

Will joined Easterseals Midwest in 2021 through Community Connections in Kansas City. From the start, he set a goal to find a job and build new skills. He later joined the RISE program to prepare for employment. There, he learned he had the skills, but a different passion was calling him.

Through Self-Determination courses, Will found his voice. He built confidence and learned how to speak up for himself and others. He also grew as a leader. Little by little, he became someone others could look to for guidance.

Leading with Purpose

Today, Will serves as co-chair of the Self-Advocates in Action Council. He stays active in Community Connections and community events across Kansas City. He shows up with purpose and leads by example. His work helps others feel seen, heard, and included.

He also helped spark Easterseals Midwest’s entry into the Kansas City Parade of Hearts. What started as an idea became one of the largest projects the team has taken on. The final piece stood tall among many others across the region, showing what can happen when people come together with a shared goal.

Will’s story is about more than growth. It is about using your voice to create change. His leadership, creativity, and drive continue to inspire others every day. And his impact keeps growing with every step he takes.
