Growing Knowledge, Strengthening Community: Inside 2025's Kansas Autism Summit

When the final conversation of 2025's Kansas Autism Summit came to halt, one thing was evident: this was something more than a conference. It was moment.

A moment for more than 130 educators, families, and advocates to lean in, listen to one another, and leave more prepared to support individuals with autism.

The Kansas Autism Summit, presented by Southern Bank, came together as a day of shared learning and consistent momentum. Dr. Alec Bernstein's keynote on managing meltdowns started things off by naming challenges plainly while offering practical, compassionate strategies that felt usable the very next morning. From there, Easterseals Midwest team members led sessions on music therapy, visual supports, and strengths-based approaches. Specific tools designed for classrooms, homes, and communities. Not just theory alone.

What followed, though, gave the day its needed weight. Two teachers from Riverside Elementary left the summit already planning how to carry it forward by sharing what they had learned with their colleagues, adjusting their classrooms, and widening the impact beyond those four walls. Knowledge, after all, only works when it travels elsewhere.

In room, on one day, scale can make the difference. What comes next? Many classrooms, many students, and many moments shaped by a greater understanding.
