BRIDGE Program: Building Real-World Independence Discovery Growth & Engagement
The BRIDGE program at Easterseals Midwest is a community-based program designed to empower adults with developmental disabilities to build independence, discover their strengths, and engage with their community. In this program, services begin and end in the community, allowing individuals to practice skills in a real-world setting where they live, work, and socialize.
What should I expect from BRIDGE?
The curriculum of BRIDGE emphasizes dignity, choice, natural supports, and meaningful community inclusion. This program focuses on a new skill each session, including building routines, improving financial literacy, making friends, and more. Participants can choose to attend 2, 3, or 5 days a week.
Participants will visit a new location in the community each session, such as the library, a bank, and local community organizations and businesses. They will learn on-site skills to help them integrate into their community while also developing social skills with one another.
Who Should Enroll in the BRIDGE Program?
Individuals who want to learn community skills in a social setting would be most successful in this program.
